Why do you want it? Don't really need to worry about ciguatera here..

He's from Cairns Jay.

The best ciguatera test kit is to feed an amount of the suspect flesh to the neighbour's children. Wait 24 hours, then inspect. There you go, for free.
No worries.

Ahh sorry buddy, good to see some east coasters here at Wangler[winking smiley]

They do a better job of testing for Cigutera and can't sue if the test is positive.[grinning smiley]

Jamie's 'test kit(tens)' have proved reliable in Queenland and the N.T. for many years.

They are best deployed outdoors as response behaviour and duration varies and may include shredded curtains.
I concur with Hal
only back in the early eighties we used the
Broome prison inmates as test subjects especially on big
gallopers.
You heard of much ciguatera up in the NT Don? Come up in conversation here every now and again. General consensus is that there has been a couple of isolated cases east of Gove. Everything around Darwin is ok. Still let the big Chinamen go though. Just in case.
As you say, I've only heard of a few isolated cases of ciguatera west of the Gove and Groote Island region, but I think the fishers up that way would think twice about eating any of the really big spanish mackerel like 40 kg and bigger. Same goes for the really big gallopers. Good idea to keep a cat or two around the camp, even so.
I fish Frazer island every year for the past few years and ciguatera is always a concern as between the island and mainland is a real hotspot. The test sounds like a great safeguard. Some of best fish a mate and I caught two years ago like 18kg Spanish, 15kg Red emperor and 10kg coral trout were a bit of a concern. The charter operator said he only ate just legal sized fish to avoid the build up of poison found in bigger fish, but we didn't go there to catch small fish. I will make sure I have a test kit before the next trip in November.
