All FADs are the latest generation PGFC design. PGFC is assisting NSW Fisheries in the design of a series of FADs for deployment along the NSW Coast. Funding for the FAD program comes from the sponsors mentioned above and Recfishwest. Challenger TAFE supports the program through deployment and recovery of the FADs.
Construction of the FAD mooring gear is light, and designed to moor only the FAD structure. FADs are clearly marked “No Mooring”. All FADS are a 900 mm yellow conical float with an octahedral radar reflector and are clearly marked “No Mooring”. The FAD mooring gear is designed to moor only the FAD structure and is insufficient to hold even a small boat. Anglers are asked to actively discourage any boat they witness tying up to a FAD, as it is an unacceptable and irresponsible practice. Losses due to this cause will jeopardise the future of the program.
It is also requested that anyone determining that a FAD is significantly distant from its correct position should record the position and advise PGFC accordingly. Updates on the FAD program will be disseminated to PGFC, FSC & HYC club members and Sponsors as a priority. | |
