Just spent the last few days down at Dunsborough crewing for my wifes team in the anaconda. Anyway, in between carting around Surf Ski's, Bikes, knackered swimmers/runners etc i managed to escape for a fish for a couple of hours one evening.

Picked a great little rip near some rocks that many will recognise i'm sure - ended up with 5 of these fellas, (all nice and fat and pushing 50cm's) along with some big Bull Herring.

Solitude, sand and success....great stuff.

Very nice Ian. Went north of Two rocks for a bit of exploring and it was so weedy I shoulda known better...the spot I "found" looked so fishy with a big dark green hole and whitewater washing over top...even had the trifecta with the sandy spill coming over the side of the reef. I'll be back soon. It screamed tailor and mullas, but unfortunately I had to leave a good hour or so before the evening high tide. Is it just the pic or do the 2 bottom fish in the photo look weirdly "shaped"/proportioned compared to the normallish fish at top?

Just a crap photo Mark.

The fish were all beautifully proportioned - typical fat SW Choppers.

Good stuff Ian, be careful though, your invading Rev's personal space and depleting his pet schools.

Yep Ian, that's the beach

Looks like you had to contend with a decent swell?

Yup, she was pumping a bit but not too bad. We also had the wind coming over our shoulders so that assisted with the decent cast that was needed to get the baits out into the gutter.

Great spot.

Frequently.

Persevere with the North Metro beaches mate, they can turn up some quality fish.

Nice going Ian.  I was down there the same weekend, not for the Anaconda but just a break.  I couldn't get a fish for the life of me.  Came across this spot south of Canal Rocks, looked pretty popular but I don't know what it is called, and it had me hoping for some action but even on a rising tide and setting sun nothing was interested.  Could hardly even manage to get the herring interested.  You get those days I guess.

It hasn't got a particular name to my knowledge, it's just called the right hand side of Wydup. If you had of walked around to your right ( about the middle of the bay ) and fished where the creek runs in , you would have caught all the herring you would want.

Cheers   Rev.

Thanks for the info Ray, do the tailor show up to play around there?  It was a nice looking section of water, the point offers some nice and shelter from the s/wester too.

I have never caught one there, and haven't heard of any one else getting any. It is a good bay for crays. If you want tailor, go to the left of Wydup all the way down to where Morey was at Mitchells.

Cheers   Rev.
