Hi Guys,

Heading down to Albany for a few days camping after Christmas - wondering whether its worth towing the boat down there?

Probably not looking to go out on the Ocean much - but is the River/Estuary a goer?

Been to Augusta had loads of fun on the Blackwood but never been to Albany

Cheers

Hi Paul, take the boat mate. Oyster Harbour is a great spot, launch at Emu Point. Plenty of good fishing, you get oceanic species (herring, skippy, whiting etc) at the Emu Point end of the estuary and bream etc towards the "northern" end. Also plenty of scope to get out into KG Sound if the weather is good. The beauty of Albany is that their is plenty of sheltered waters and the waether has to be pretty Sh*thouse to completely wipe out a fishing trip of some description.

Try out near the little island in Oyster Harbour or out amongst the mussel farms. Can get some enormous skippy near the mussell farms and also some just size snapper if things go your way.

Cheers
Steve

Thanks for that Steve, I guess as they say "if you are going to take a trailer might as well have a boat on it"

Paul,

As Stephen says taking the boat would be a good move.  Oyster Harbour has a heap of different options as has the Kalgan River, stay away from the King River as it is very shalow past the bridge.  Princess Royal harbor is another option worth looking at as is a day trip to Denmark and a look around on the Wilson Inlet with its Flatties, Pinkies, KG's etc.  The only downside might be the ques at the Emu Point ramp over the Christmas break.

Have a great time in our lovely Town and on our pristine waters.

Korg

Ps if you go offshore Albany Sea Rescue(VMR610) will give you coverage on channel 82 on VHF.

Well not sure whether we were just lucky but we had a great week with good weather and would certainly go back to Albany another time.
Great boating location - fantastic beaches and the Whaling Museum is brilliant.
Tanglehead Brewery is also awesome
