No it's not hot     and yep it is raining bugga Tony aye, hows it going hope ya havn't had too much.

I was down at Bluewater in Morley and they put some 6kg mono on.

I have only had one overhead casting reel a little baitcaster and it is still on the shelf with it's massive overrun to remind me not to get another and it worked for 15 years

This little Daiwa was given to me with the rod by my DIL's dad and it has seen very little use I tried it out the other night and caught a few whiting for bait (bl@@dy sharks) and it is a sweet little thing, I even cast it in the dark and only had a few small overruns.

Time will tell but a nice little outfit in mint condition.

G'day Ashley.
I was looking at these and the calcutta 200 just a month ago. They are very nice indeed.

I ended up going the Zillion baitcaster and am very very happy with it.
How nice is that though to be given a Millionaire? Ya lucky bugga.

Hi Morgan.

Yes It was a very nice thing to do it is an older reel don't know how old but (the packaging looks very old fashioned) still in the box.

Just need the weather to settle down so I can give it a real test.

cheers

Take a while to "teach your thumb" when learning to cast a bait-caster but trust me once you have learned to use one you wont want to go back to a spin reel.  Sure spin reels have there place, but the more torque and smoother drag you get with a bait-caster its hard not to love. Also you can drop a lure or bait more accurately once you know how to use them.

Things to rememberer is that when casting with a bait-caster are:-
A) Adjust the screw at the end of the spool so that the spool only has a tiny bit of sideways slop.  Just enough so that the rig falls snoothly to the ground when your not touching the spool.
B) When casting make the cast progressively accelerate.  When casting a spin rod we almost always flick at the end of the cast. Flicking with a bait-caster will usualy cause a birds nest mid cast.

Enjoy mate!

Thanks for that Fraser I like the feel of it and the rod seems to have been custom made for it and although a complete newby it went well almost straight away but I do have the little adjust knob right up on 10 ?? so I think there is a lot of room for improvement.

cheers

Hi All
there is a little thing I do with all my bait casters is punch a neat leather washer and put it in behind the adjusting screw (Cap).
On most reels they have a metal shim at the base so if you put the leather washer on top of this it will give you a much finer and accurate adjustment.
From time to time you will need to replace the washer with a new one.
This is also a good way to get more use out of your old work boots Ha Ha.
Good luck.
