Michael,
Paul Willis did a very good piece on ballooning at Wagoe in Western Angler a couple of years ago. I think it was the Dec-Jan 2007 edition off the top of my head.
If you interested in it, I am sure we could get you a copy.

Paul was on the cover, holding a mackie taken ballooning off the beach at first light at Wagoe.

I imagine that you will face a 16kn+ southerly for most of the time. Check the wind reports before you leave and if it is southerlies i would not even bother with helium. If you do get lucky and get an unexpected easterly then i would just use a surface balloon. Good luck with the trip, i have been there in both Nov and Feb and been blown to pieces all week. We did battle it out and came away with a few nice fish. Wittercarra up the road is good if you need a night away from the wind.

Just got back from three days at Wagoe it blew a gale most of the time but mornings were good for a while and with the extra low tides and low swell it was easy to fish the drop offs.

Lucky bay reef was accessable in the morning on the low tide and some good pinks turned up for an hour or so and the same happened up at Wagoe.

Other than that it was a bit quiet on the fish front although I found whirra central at one spot landing about 6

cheers

Ashley
