Im wanting to head down to the local canning river ( 15 min walk from my house) and try a few lures at dusk one of these days, maybe a bit of bait too.

Im just wondering if the tidal flow comming from the swan river would make much difference there and if i should be taking that into great consideration..?

Any input would be great.. cheers.

Mate,
I wouldn't worry too much about the tide if you are planning to throw a few lures around at dusk on the Canning.
A real low tide might be an issue, but I have found the time of day generally more important, and dusk is perfect!

I havent found any difference in producing fish with the tide differences, I agree with Scotty the time of day is pretty crucial.

Working the lures slowly across the flats might give ya a couple of flathead too mate, I have heard there has been a couple coming out of the swan/canning, I was luring it the other day underneath the Leach hwy/fern rd bridge and spoke to some fellas picking up some flathead on little soft plastics.

I didnt catch any myself but that was a good 2 hours before dark. Got an ok bream though, probably round the 700 gram.

Juzz.

Pm you some details mate..

If you want to score some Flathead, i'd suggest wading and spinning hardbodies around the Aquinas college flats and the flats between Mount Henry and Canning Bridges. These areas have produced some ripper Flathead sessions for me in the past with my biggest being around 55cm from Aquinas waters on a gold/orange River 2 Sea Static Shad.
