Hi all,

I will be heading down to Augusta on the weekend if the weather is on the good side and hoping to have my 5.2meter in tow. As I have never fished here does anyone know if it as good fishing offshore up to 10-15 mile. I know the weather can turn nasty here real quick. Any advice is muchly appreciated
Cheers

Dingo

Hello Alec,
Great time of the year fish wise for Augusta - however the dreaded sou-soueaster pattern looks set for about a week at least - this south coast seabreeze can blow hard down here even when Perth is northeast and 40 degrees.
There are more lumps around on the west coast and if you head more south /southeast it's generally flat ground with patch's of coral & rubble type broken bottom that hold the usual suspect's - need a good sounder to find this ground.
It's often better for boating when we are in a onshore air-stream due to a front than anything east in summer/autumn - it stops the sse blowing hard.
Don't forget to throw a floater - even in 30+ metres - big pinks love em' as do dhuies in mid water.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info. Looked at the weather and seen the SSE. Due to this it is a toss up between Augusta and canal rocks.
Cheers

Looks like the top half of the capes would be better - I've heard some nice fish are being caught in close up that way.
