Hi all,
We're off to Jurien tomorrow morning until Sunday. Shore based 2WD only.

Any thoughts as to what to expect and where.

I've heard all about Hill River except whether it's accessable by 2wd or a short walk. (We are all 60ish and lived a good life)

Thanks in anticipation and will do a report on our return.

Hi Dave..

We`ve done well on tailor in the past fishing the beach that runs north from the marina...if it is`nt weeded out  and with a half decent seabreeze the area generally turns on a few fish. Just park your car and walk onto the beach and fish approx 100 metres up from the northern rockwall...

You also get alot of pippis along the beach on the waters edge, they make good fresh bait for whiting...

Good luck..

Hi Dave

The sandy cape area north of town can be quite fishy at times. You'll be restricted to the protected bay if you have 2WD, but I've seen choppers caught there before at night.

Thanks Pete and Smithy,
Taking a couple of "to and froms" with us who have never fished and it would be nice to give them a taste of the best fun I can have standing up. North it is.
AHHH!!! Pipies, 1st time I've heard of them being available in WA. They're almost as good to eat fresh, (Soak them a for a couple of hours in sea water to get rid of the sand and cook them for a couple of minutes in a cream and white wine sauce seasoned with salt and pepper MMMMMMM) as what they are for bait. We will definitely  get into them.
Have also heard of squid in the harbour, is this the case.

Anyway thanks for the tip and I will let you know the results.

Many thanks
Dave

Bugger, not a scale seen for the trip.
Beach north of the Marina weeded out, Sandy Cape, jetties (both) quiet. The only fish seen for the week was watching 3 people at the end of Marine Drive just north of Cervantes getting stuck into all and sundry (herring, Taylor, whiting, skippy and flathead) and Murphy's Law applied it was the only time we were out and about with-out the rod and reel.

Tried Blue bait, whitebait, ocky and mulies, tried 5:00 AM, mid- morning afternoon up to 10:00 PM. Rocks Jetties and beach.

However for all that the most relaxing holiday in years.

We'll be back.
