One of my son's great mates has relocated back to Perth from Melbourne and is seeking a job as a motor mechanic in the mining industry.  He is looking for something around Pinjarra, Waroona, Boddington if possible as he is living with us at the moment.

If anyone knows of anything around can you let me know.

mmm mining may be a little slow for a while. Lots now looking for new employment as mines shut down or slow down. Lots of mines cutting non essential staff and luxury divisions that are non core.

There are plenty of mechanical jobs going in Agriculture (ex mine mechanics will soon fill them). Best if you have a good grounding in electronics and computers. Lots of CAN communication system these days, GPS, Autosteer etc. If you have these qualifications/skills you can nearly ask you own price, also better than living at a crappy mine site.

Dave, tell him to try Alcoa as they are short a heap of blokes in the workshop alot have left myself included chasing the bigger bucks up north, also contact BHP as they are going through an expansion at Worsley (Boddington)Greg will help you with BodGold.

Also tell him to  register with Ready Workforce as they supply alot of the labour to all these sites, positions are initially fulltime casual but a good way of getting a foot in the door!

Hope this helps regards Jamey

Justin, Greg, Jamey

Thanks fo the tips.  I will let Daniel know and have a chat to Greg on the weekend.

I am sure he would take any job in the industry at the moment while waiting for a mechanic job to come along.

Let me know how you go with all that.

There is something going on in my neck of the woods. I am assuming that he is a light vehicle mechanic and not a heavy duty fitter?

I believe that one of our major contractors is chasing people at the moment.... I am no where near bodinton though..

Cheers

Shane

Thanks.  Yep, light vehicle mechanic.  He has just picked up a job in Belmont.  Not sure which of the companies he is with as I have been away.

Thanks for all replies - if his job doesn't work out I might be back in touch.
