Not sure whether the new "Buzzmaster" surface baits have reached W.A. tackle shops, but they are steadily gaining an enviable reputation here on the east coast, especially where conditions involve weed beds and timber either in fresh or salt water. Barra love 'em.

New version of an old lure .

One of the best Barra lures I used was an BIG version of a bladed spinner , the stainless blade would have been 60mm long .

Was a cracker of a lure until it went missing in action , never came across one as big again .

Would be a handy lure in the fresh .

We're going to be using some in 2 weeks time .

Have to buy a lot of gear for over there as no body stocks them here for us.

I have been looking at these lures for a while now thinking that they would be great on Barra. I would like to get some and give them a try this year. Who has them. I am sure that bluewater will have some.Bring on the barra.
Cheers Matt

You been trying around Gregs camp , water quality should be at its best might be a few weeks early but I'd still like to have a crack at the light changes.

Go the crabs out Tanmurra , I heard recently they were a good option out there .

Sand flies should enjoy a bit of the southern juices , get before and after skin shots .

Wish I was there.............

Reports of the Ord not from me but know of a few people using a guide over the past couple of weeks scratching to raise a fish each

Hi guys, thanks for having me on your forums, its my first time on your website.

Thanks Don, we have been testing these for over a two years now and have decided to start making them. I have caught Barra on the big 1/2oz Turbo. Will be going up to Ayr in Nth QLD where I originally come from in a couple of weeks and getting into the Barra with these Buzzbaits. I have also caught Blue Salmon and Australian Bass on them and am keen on getting into the GTs and Mangrove Jacks.

Thanks again.

Rod.

Hey Fellas,

Quite an old lure this has been used for years mostly in America and Africa for Bass Fishing, They are extremely popular over there and if you have trouble finding them I am sure Bassproshops.com will have endless colours, sizes, weights etc...

They are quiet handy in Weed situations and are extremely exciting when something nails it off the surface..Caught some biggies retrieving them just underneath the surface,(not using em properly) When they are just causing a slight ripple underneath the water creates an extreme vibrating effect for the fish, so if they arent hungry they will be p%$ed off with the noise.

Juzz

Thats why I mentioned this week ......... moon stage

Hi Rod , the blade spinner lure I mention was a killer lure on the smaller fresh water Barra I fished for on the Ord .

I'm sure they would do well , ribbon weed being the lure casters enemy on the Ord , something that resists weed just that bit longer can only be a better option .

HAHAHAHAHAHA
Now that is full circle!
When I first started fishing there were a couple of this type of lure in my dads (uncles maybe) tackle box. I think they were intended as a trout lure mainly. I looked at them with disdain. Thats old cr@ppy technology I will stick with my new stuff was the thought.
In hindsight maybe I should have given em a shot!
I reckon salmon would destroy em down here, maybe fun for herring if you can find a tiny version.

Joel
