It certainly is a great med/heavy lure chucker Darryl and terrific value for money.

And if your arms get too sore from the high reel seat position just add another one lower down like Rev has.

Thanks Brett.
For a Graphite Composite Rod its an absolute steal I reckon and worth every cent for the castability. Can't wait to head out two rocks way for a decent flick as Summer approaches.
Thanks for the tip re the reel seat. I saw a picture of the revs extra one.

Yep Darrell, they are a good rod for the money. The only trouble I have is that braid sometimes gets looped around the second or third guide if it's windy. I reckon they need another guide on them to keep the braid on the straight and narrow. Other than that, great rods. I have used reels up to an Emblem Pro on mine no probs but prefer something in a 5000 sise for all round comfort.

first thing I thought when I got it was it needs 2 extra guides on it, I'll give mine a good hammering and then decide on what to do with it.

Maybe get a Rovex 11 footer and strip it down and rebuild it into a bottom mounted spinner as the price will drop being Rovex branded.

Can any one tell me if the OH models are low mount or high mount???

Brendan the OH rods have a high seat around 21" from memory. They are that for a reason and that is traditionally an angler would have put a 5-7000 size overhead and cast lures for Mackies or Salmon etc off the stones. Although the blanks are quite powerful a low mount version could invite someone to put a 30-40lb class overhead reel on it and use it for heavy beach casting, defiantly not the type of rod, although we are working on that!

I shall request a sample of a low mount 11 footer, after I have had a bunch of casts then someone here can have a go.

Don't worry too much Neil, when those rods were first released onto the market some 8-10 years ago they wholesaled for $172.00 admittedly they came from Rod-Co in the US.

I reckon Rob, at $130 its still good value for chucking lures etc. Good to see they will still be available. Same RRP for Rovex line of rods? Haven't Rovex got a few new rods coming soon?

Ah just a few mate everything from $29 right through to $199, the Bario's will be similar price range to the SBG's. The Duren are the entry point rods similar to the old White Tail. The ones to look out for are the Magnite, Aluma and Avenio very nicely finished.

Hi,

I will have to respond to this on Shane's behalf as he is away at work.. Sorry about the delay.

Shane pretty much tested it out straight away after getting his reel. He reckons it feels good, and even though the reel is a 6000 it isn't too heavy. Shane had one spool filled with braid and the other mono, and both held up well from the beach.

I will point him to this post when he manages to get online, he may have something else to add.
