To keep the other one on topic and from the realms of destruction.

Ok the person who guesses the the amount of registered boats in the one year from its release gets a years subscription of Wangler.

Chuck in the V5 licence/logbooks too if you want to. Out of the 85000 boats that are spouted to be V5 fishermen how many do you think?

Take a guess. What do you have to lose.

I'll go for 12,447 for demersal West Coast, and if we get compulsory logbooks, 4,820 of them will record nil V5 catch.

Out of that figure of 85,000 I would guess around 28,500 would fish in areas likely to see them catch V5 species.
My subscription expires in Feb 09 Neil

Interesting, the brother inlaw rang the boat yard to sell his boat. The yard said they had a tonne of boats come in last month and that theyll ring back when they have a space.

Its a dead set easy calc to do when you think about

take the total number of wheels on all registered  boat trailers, multiply by the total commercial wet line tonnage of V5 demersals in 2004 and divide by the number of minutes wasted on websites postulating about it and thats your result.

Then wonder why people get upset when WAFIC representives spout numbers of 85000 boats out hunting V5 species.

Most my postulation has come from the Australian Bureau of statistics.

V5 Boat registration and log books will benefit fish and not the postulation some of us have seen first hand.

Best of the luck on your guess Guesty.

See you when the licences and log books are released.

Dawesy - thats no guess. As I explained that was a highly scientific calculation based on known facts as I thought them up.
