Read this from the site

Fishing Sucks!

Fishing is boring, absolutely boring, just plain boring and just plain dumb. Most people fish because they are scared of the water, the animals and just don't understand how it all works down there. If they did then they would not inflict such cruelty on the animals.

Why sit uptop and dangle a hook doing the lucky dip thing, when you can get in amongst it and experience the animals in their world. It is astounding how much money some people spend to come here to see and catch a fish, when all you have to do is get in and go down and you can see and experience more fish and marine life than most people will see it their whole life. Not only tha,t but it's a whole lot more exciting, and the animals are left there for the next person to experience.

It's only a matter of time until the "lucky dip people" on the Ningaloo Reef and in Western Australia realize that there is much more money in showing people the animals than killing them. Killing & attacking the marine life will become like smoking- a bit silly.

Who would of said ten years ago that smoking will be stopped in Pubs, attacking the marine life for no other reason than for fun will go the same way.

Fishing is feeding the marine animals and conditioning sharks to associate boats and people with food. As more & more people come to Ningaloo Reef and get in the water to view the marine life, fishing bodies and operators may find themselves in court dealing with a shark attack victim's family, ie "the day defore you were fishing and feeding sharks near the local dive site - snorkel area were the shark victim was taken".

Times are changing!

Then have alook at the link above

Its not a joke unfortunately

Hi Mike

Can you point me to where this article was on the website?

Just had a 5 minute gander at the site, very glossy & slick, very commercial in fact.

But..... they gont have the guts (it seems) to have a guestbook!
Why not? Would they be afraid of a few home truths, perhaps??

They wouldn't like it if they were proved to be liars & hypocrites, on their very own site.

Damo, need a spambot for their site, could we organise one??

Doug

Hi Doug

Kelly does seem to have a reasonable "turn of phrase" to advance her business-

but unfortunately she has used some deceptive means to try an increase that market share which either means she is too young, too ambitious or to stupid to know the difference in running a tourist orientated consumer business in a small market that has too few users at the present moment and many operators that can use one another for their lively hood.

We now have one operator promoting themselves above all others to the detriment of other businesses in the area

I think that maybe the boss now knows about the site and has done something about it.

We may even see a post in the Berly Bucket saying

"Wanted two diving instuctors for busy Dive shop in exmouth.
No PETA activists need apply"

Well- he needs to delete half the F&*%in sites- coz theres a load of bullshite running throughout these web offerings. I have never seen such bias crap other than the PETA websites that I have looked at in the US and had a bit of a laugh, thinking that could never happen here!

Just remember that it's people like Kelly that actually write to the govt and voice their points of view- It wouldn't suprise me if they were a point of reference for CALM

Maybe a lot of emails or phone calls should go to the Exmouth Visitor Centre saying that websites like Kelly's turn anglers off Exmouth. Mine will be on the way soon.

Note the free call number 1800 287 328 -- Hint Hint.......

Missed that in the initial read.

I will be calling that number tommorrow

Heres the number if anyone else wants to call

1800 287 328

That page may be gone but plenty more garbage exists.

quote:

Hunting animals for sport is frowned upon now days as fresh food is readily available in developed nations. Duck hunting, safari shooting and even traditional fox hunts have been deemed cruel and unnecessary and yet there is one awful, morbid, mass holocaust occurring, killing more helpless, innocent animals and destroying the fragile environment they live in…FISHING!

This can be seen on http://www.ningalooreefteach.com/Intelligent%20life.htm

Thanks Tammy

Here is a copy of the email I have sent to this publication

Just a quick note to inquire if Kelly Ritchie has submitted articles to your publication

Some websites that she operates with her business have adopted some unsavoury practices that may impact on other businesses in and surrounding Exmouth.

Please see http://www.westernangler.com.au/forum/Fishing_Sucks%21/m_60555/tm.htm

Some of the webpages that were once there have now been erased but there are records from members of the forum that have them saved in their cache

Their websites show a clear bias that may affect other businesses relating to the tourist fishing industy.

Please be aware of her activities and biases as they are not generally apparant on first examination but do tend to worm their way in

Thank you for your time
